Chris John Wins Again Stanyslav Merdov


Chris John
Indonesian WBA featherweight super champion Chris John successfully defended his title by winning the Ukrainian Stanyslav Merdov Wednesday night in Challenge Stadium, Perth, Australia. Despite falling in the second round, Merdov gave stiff resistance for 12 rounds. "The Dragon" won with scores of 116-111, 116-111 and 115-112 for the win by unanimous decision. While Merdov's record is 32 wins (24 KOs) and 8 loses.

With this victory, Chris John stretched his record to 46-0-2, with 22 KOs. It makes Chris John extends to 15 victories in the title fight. Next, Chris John is scheduled to face the WBA first ranked Yuriorkis Gamboa from Cuba.

26th SEA Games Jakarta-Palembang
Indonesia SEA Games 2011 will be held in 11 days (from November 11 - November 22) in two host cities, Jakarta and Palembang, with 542 gold medals to be competed through 44 sports. This year is the fourth time for Indonesia to be host country for Southeast Asian countries sports festival after in SEA Games X 1979, SEA Games XV 1987, dan SEA Games XIX 1997.

In Jakarta, competition venues will be centered in Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), This stadium is the largest and oldest stadium in Indonesia.

Djohar Arifin Husein, New PSSI Chairman


Prof. Djohar Arifin Husein was elected as Chairman of PSSI for 2011-2015, Saturday July 9, 2011. In PSSI Extraordinary Congress at The Sunan Hotel, Solo, in the second round of elections, Djohar got 61 votes, while his rival Agusman Effendi only got 38 votes. One vote declared invalid. In the first round, Djohar won with 53 votes, while Agusman got 39 votes. Japto S. Soerjosoemarno who received 4 votes, withdrew from second round.

Djohar got support from Group of 78 who previously insisted nominate George Toisutta who rejected by FIFA.

Chris John Successfully Defended His Title



WBA featherweight super champion, Chris "The Dragon" John successfully defended his title after defeating the challenger - also from Indonesia, Daud "Cino" Yordan, Sunday (17/4). 3 judges gave scores 112-116, 112-116 and 111-117, all for Chris John's victory.

More experienced, Chris John gave more serious blows to his opponent. His blow variations are difficult to anticipate by Daud Yordan. Instead, Daud Yordan was too easily provoked that his punches are less effective.

WBA Featherweight Super Champion Chris "The Dragon" John will fight with Daud "Cino" Yordan (rank 6th) in Arena PRJ (Pekan Raya Jakarta), Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, Sunday (17/4). In a duel titled "The Moment of Truth", both boxers will fight to compete for WBA featherweight champion belts.

Chris John said he would beat down the challenger Daud Yordan in 5th round, while Daud Yordan wants to beat Chris John before the 12th round.

2 Bombs In Jakarta


A package addressed to the leaders of the Jaringan Islam Liberal (Liberal Islam Network), Ulil Abshar Abdalla arrive at radio news KBR 68 H which is also the office of the Liberal Islam Network. But at around 16.05 pm, the package exploded, and he lost his left hand. 3 others injured.

'Crop Circle' In Sleman

Residents of Sleman, Yogyakarta, was shocked by the signs that appear mysteriously in the rice field after the winds. The large circle appears in the middle of rice field in the area of Mount Suru, Jogotirto, Berbah. There are mysterious symbol at center of the giant circle, which is formed by the rice that fell after the high winds. Some locals believe the giant ring-shaped marks as aircraft landing of Unidentified Flying Object (UFO). This incident is believed to be the first time that happened in Indonesia, although it's also happening in various locations in the world.

Compared to events those occurred in other places, crop circle that occurred in Sleman relatively much smaller, its diameter only about 70 meters. This phenomenon has attracted the attention of locals.

Demands of national football lovers for Nurdin Halid, PSSI (Persatuan Sepakbola Seluruh Indoensia = Indonesian Football Association) chairman to resign continues. Sasando


Sasando"
Sasando is a stringed musical instrument from Rote Island, Nusa Tenggara Timur (Eastern Lesser Sundas). In Rote language, "sasandu" means vibrating or sounded instrument. It's said Sasando already in use among the Rote community since the 7th century. At first glance, Sasando looks similar to other stringed instruments such as guitar, violin and harp.

The principal part of Sasando is a long cylinder commonly made of bamboo. The central is circle from the top to the bottom and there are some wedges where the strings are stretched, from the top to the bottom. These wedges give different tones to each picked string. This Sasando tube was placed in a container made from Gebang (a kind of woven palm) leaves that made like a fan. This is where the resonance of sasando comes from.

Sasando has many strings. Sasando with 28 strings are termed Sasando Engkel. Another type; Sasando Doble, has 56 strings. There's even a Sasando with 84 strings.
