Tor Tor Dance


Tor Tor Dance
Tor-Tor dance is a traditional dance from Batak tribe in North Sumatra, a dance rhythm with a musical accompaniment (Margondang). There is no certainty of data, who is the creator of this dance or when the dance was first played. According to the story, they danced the Tor-Tor when there is a customary ritual, such as marriage, nor the king's inauguration. This dance is also often played when there are family members who died, also. But now, Tor-Tor is not only played when there is a special ritual, Tor-Tor is also a welcome dance when there are tourists visiting the North Sumatra.

Daud "Cino" Jordan Wins Again Lorenzo Villanueva


Despite falling in the first round, Indonesian boxer, Daud "Cino" Jordan claims World International Boxing Organisation (IBO) featherweight champion title, after knocking out his opponent Lorenzo Villanueva from Philippines in the second round.

In the main event, Chris John defeated Shoji Kimura to retain his WBA featherweight title for the 16th time. He won by scores of 118-109, 118-109, 117-110. He improved to 47-0-2.

Chris John will Face Shoji Kimura in Singapura


World WBA featherweight super champion boxer from Indonesia Chris "the Dragon" John will be defending his title against Japan's Shoji Kimura in the Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, on Saturday, May 5, 2012. Chris John will attempt to retain the title for the 16th time.

Chris John, 32, is an undefeated fighter with a fight record of 46-0-2 (22 KOs). While Kimura, 34, has a fight record of 24-4-2 with 9 KOs. Chris John claimed to have hit a new technique called "Dragon Fire Punch".

This is the first world championship boxing title fight in Singapore, since the Indonesian boxer Elly Pical defend his World IBF Super Fly title by beating Mike Phelps in 1989.

Large earthquake hits off Sumatra


An earthquake with a magnitude of 8.5 shook the west coast of Sumatra Island on Wednesday, April 11th, 2011 at 15:38 West Indonesia Time. The quake had a depth of 29 kilometres. The epicenter was about 431 kilometres southwest of Banda Aceh, the capital of province of Aceh, Sumatra island. The quake shook Nangroe Aceh Darussalam, Bengkulu, Lampung, West Sumatra and North Sumatra.

In Banda Aceh, the quake terrified residents rushed out of their homes, and go to higher ground. The electricity and telephone line are also interrupted by the earthquake.
