Tor-Tor dance is a traditional dance from Batak tribe in North Sumatra, a dance rhythm with a musical accompaniment (Margondang). There is no certainty of data, who is the creator of this dance or when the dance was first played. According to the story, they danced the Tor-Tor when there is a customary ritual, such as marriage, nor the king's inauguration. This dance is also often played when there are family members who died, also. But now, Tor-Tor is not only played when there is a special ritual, Tor-Tor is also a welcome dance when there are tourists visiting the North Sumatra.

The appeal of dance-Tor Tor can be seen from the movement - Tor-Tor dancers viewed movements seem a bit stiff. That said, the movement associated with the legend about the Tor-Tor. At ancient times, tor-tor used in rituals associated with spirits, which spirits are summoned and "walked" into the stone statues which was the symbol of the ancestors, then the statue were moved like dancing, but with a rigid motion.

Recently, the Malaysian government plans to register Tor-tor dance and Paluan Gondang Sambilan dance from Mandailing, North Sumatra, as Malaysia’s cultural heritage. What a shame.
